Thanks Curt,  That's an awful lot to type and I appreciate the effort!

A couple things I haven't mentioned to add to the mix is the forward power 
meter on the STL-20 reads about 20 on the top scale and no reflected into 
the dummy and reads 20 forward and a needle wiggle just off the post 
reflected into the antenna load.

One problem I had during the installation was some low output (17 W forward 
and about 3 W reflected) into the antenna at the TX end of the coax.

It turned out that the 2 1/2" pigtail at the antenna end was RG-11 instead 
of RG-8.  I replaced it with RG-8 and the readings went to 35W forward and 
about 1.5 W reflected @ the TX end.

At the end of the coax into the antenna thru a 2 1/2' RG-8 pigtail the Bird 
read about 16 W into the antenna and 0 W reflected and the built in metering 
on the STL-20 read the same as above.
