 And when we do, we are *very* careful with line lengths, connectors,
 type of meter, ( internal dimensions ) and such. An inch doesn't sound like
 much, but at STL frequencies it can be everything.

 The "best" way to do this, is with a TDR sweep. 
 There's reason they calibrate at both ends of the line when doing
 a proper sweep, with no jumpers at all, and do it from the bottom.
