It sounds like a metering inaccuracy caused by a lower impedance
presented by the antenna. Through line meters are accurate at 50 ohms,
if it's not 50 then the power readings are relative, not true. They
actually read current (I) not power. That said if your antenna looks
like a lower Z then the power will appear much higher on the meter.
