 For everything I've ever done with XP, only .net was ever required for anything,
 and that was for a poorly written program I don't use anymore.

 I'm with Lyle on this.
 If you don't *need* them, don't install them.
 Unfortunately, once installed, M$ makes it VERY difficult to remove.
